The Sree Ayyappa Temple at B.V. Puram near Avadi bus depot and railway station is an embodiment of peace, tranquility, spirituality, compassion and divine grace. What began as a humble movement of devotion from a nondescript shed has today grown roots and turned into an abode for thousands of Lord Ayyappa devotees at Avadi and other places in Chennai. It was group of Ayyappa Devotees working in a Central defence establishment who started the Pooja Sangh way back in the year 1966. They used to render bhajans before a portrait of Ayyappa Swamy. The Ayyappan Vilakku pooja soon followed suit and has, since then, been an annual event.Sustained yet selfless efforts of devotees resulted in the registration of the Hari Hara Sutha Seva Sangham in the year 1968.The Shadadhara pratishta was performed by the Chief Priest of the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple, Brahma Sree Thanthri Neelakantaru, on February 22nd 1988.
